Hi, I’m Jack — a product designer based in Ireland with over three years of experience, currently working at Genesys Cloud . Design has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, even before I knew what it was called. As a kid, I was drawn to art and anything creative. An early memory of being drawn to design involved sitting on a bus one day and staring out the window at an advertisement. I couldn’t tell you what it was for, but I was captivated by the typography, colors, and layout. It dawned on me — someone creative made that. I went on to study Art for my undergrad at IADT. Over time, I found myself more drawn to design. I started working on small personal projects and even picked up some freelance work — with actual money involved, which felt wild at the time. My interest in digital design really took off during my first design job, where I started diving into web design. I spent countless learning hours experimenting with HTML, CSS, and even a bit of JavaScript. That curiosity led me back to college in 2020 to pursue a master’s in creative digital media—UX and interaction design—at TU Dublin. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to work on impactful projects, including projects that incorporate some very interesting AI technologies.
Ideally, a UI is designed so users notice the important things which help them to complete their tasks. While at the same time seamlessly fading the unnecessary noise into the background. Users shouldn’t have to sweat the small stuff. From a UX designer’s perspective to achieve this seamlessness, microinteractions play a massive role.....
